Qatar Airways Privilege Club: How to Earn Avios and Book QSuite Awards

Complete guide to Qatar Airways Privilege Club — earning Avios, QSuite award redemptions, oneworld partner awards, and the best uses of your Qatar miles in 2026.

By The Points Editor

Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club is the frequent flyer program of one of the most consistently award-winning airlines in the world. QSuite — Qatar’s double suite business class cabin — is widely considered the best business class experience available, offering genuine first-class privacy with sliding doors, face-to-face seating for couples, and social configurations. Earning enough Avios (Privilege Club’s rebranded miles) to book it is worth the effort.

Understanding Qatar Privilege Club Avios

In 2023, Privilege Club rebranded its miles as “Avios” — the same currency name as British Airways. However, these are NOT the same as BA Avios, Iberia Avios, or Aer Lingus Avios. Qatar Avios are a separate currency that cannot be pooled with BA/IB Avios.

Points can be converted: Qatar Avios can be converted to/from BA Avios, Iberia Avios, and Aer Lingus Avios at 1:1 — but there are conversion limits and processing times.

Earning Qatar Privilege Club Avios

Flying Qatar Airways: The most obvious path. Earn Avios based on flight distance and booking class. Business class bookings earn the most (up to 200% of distance flown in highest booking classes).

Partner flying: Qatar is a oneworld member. Flying any oneworld airline (American, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, etc.) can credit Avios to Privilege Club.

Transfers from major programs:

  • American Express Membership Rewards → Qatar Avios: 1:1 transfer
  • Chase Ultimate Rewards → Qatar Avios: NOT a direct transfer partner (indirect via BA Avios conversion)
  • Citi ThankYou Points → Qatar Avios: Check current partnerships

Shopping and dining: Privilege Club has a shopping portal and dining program for bonus Avios on everyday spending.

QSuite Award Redemptions

Qatar operates QSuite on select routes from Doha (DOH). Not every flight is QSuite-equipped — it’s primarily on long-haul narrow-body and wide-body routes.

QSuite routes (major):

  • Doha ↔ New York (JFK), Washington (IAD), Houston (IAH)
  • Doha ↔ London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Frankfurt (FRA)
  • Doha ↔ Singapore (SIN), Bangkok (BKK), Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
  • Doha ↔ Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM) — some routes

Award pricing for QSuite (typical Avios):

  • Doha to New York one-way: ~75,000–100,000 Avios in Business
  • Doha to London one-way: ~35,000–50,000 Avios in Business
  • Doha to Singapore one-way: ~40,000–60,000 Avios in Business

Booking a round-trip itinerary via Doha (using QR metal both ways) often provides the best pricing and availability combination.

Partner Awards on Oneworld

Privilege Club can also book other oneworld member airlines on partner awards — though availability is more restricted than booking on Qatar’s own metal.

Partner award pricing (varies, but typical Business Class examples):

  • USA to Europe (BA, Iberia, American): 70,000–90,000 Avios one-way
  • USA to Asia (Cathay Pacific, JAL, Malaysia Airlines): 80,000–110,000 Avios one-way

Important: Qatar partner awards have historically had more restrictive availability than direct Qatar flights. The best use of Privilege Club Avios is usually QSuite on Qatar’s own metal.
