Chase to Hyatt: The Best Transfer in Credit Card Rewards (and How to Use It)

Why Chase → Hyatt is the most valuable 1:1 transfer in the US, which Hyatt properties deliver the best value, and step-by-step booking instructions.

By The Points Editor

Among all the 1:1 transfer partnerships in US credit card rewards, Chase to World of Hyatt stands alone as the most consistently valuable. No other major program reliably delivers 1.5–6+ cents per point across a broad range of properties. If you have Chase Ultimate Rewards points and ever plan to stay at a hotel that falls in the Hyatt portfolio, this transfer should be your default.

Why Chase → Hyatt Beats Everything Else

The fundamental reason is Hyatt’s award chart. While most hotel programs have moved to dynamic pricing (Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One), Hyatt has maintained a mostly fixed award chart — you know exactly how many points you need for a Category 7 property before you ever open the app.

Category structure (approximate nightly cost):

  • Category 1: 3,500 points/night
  • Category 2: 6,500 points/night
  • Category 3: 12,000 points/night
  • Category 4: 18,000 points/night
  • Category 5: 25,000 points/night
  • Category 6: 30,000 points/night
  • Category 7: 30,000 points/night (includes Park Hyatt and Alila)
  • Category 8 (Globalist exclusive): 40,000 points/night

A Park Hyatt property at Category 7 (30,000 points/night) might cost $400–$800 per night in cash. That’s 1.3–2.7 cents per point — far above the program average.

At the extremes:

  • Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa (~27,000 pts/night, cash $1,500–$2,000/night): 5.5–7.4¢ per point
  • Park Hyatt Sydney (~30,000 pts/night, cash $600–$900/night): 2–3¢ per point
  • Hyatt Centric or Category 3 property (~12,000 pts/night, cash $150–$200/night): 1.25–1.67¢ per point

Even at Category 3 properties, you’re getting more than you’d get from almost any cash-back card.

When NOT to Transfer Chase to Hyatt

  • If the property you want is Category 1–2 and the cash price is only $80–$120/night, consider saving your points for higher-value properties
  • If you don’t have a specific stay in mind, don’t transfer speculatively — keep Chase UR flexible
  • For properties that Hyatt doesn’t have in your destination, use a different transfer partner

Hyatt award category information verified at hyatt.com as of June 2026. Categories are subject to change during Hyatt’s periodic category adjustments.
